GREAT scholarships – India

In partnership with the British Council, Sheffield Hallam University is pleased to offer six GREAT Scholarships of £5,000. They are exclusively for Indian domiciled students starting a full-time taught course in September 2017. Sheffield Hallam is working in partnership with the British Council to offer the scholarships worth a total of £30,000, as part of the GREAT campaign to encourage India's brightest students to study in the UK.

Scholarship value –  £5,000

Open to: 

To be eligible to apply for one of these scholarships you must

  • be domiciled in India

  • postgraduate only - have achieved a minimum 2.1 or equivalent in your honours degree and must meet the English and academic entry requirements for your course. Please attach your transcripts to your scholarship application

  • have an offer for one of the specified courses at Sheffield Hallam University. If you have not applied for a course, please visit our online prospectus

  • be self-funding your studies

  • be able to pay any additional fees your course may require, for example field trips

Please note students studying a Sheffield Hallam course at a partner institution are not eligible for GREAT scholarships.

How to apply:

To apply for a GREAT Scholarship, please follow these steps

  • check you meet you the scholarship eligibility criteria listed as above

  • apply for one of the courses listed above at Sheffield Hallam. If you have not applied for a course, please visit our online prospectus

  • when you have received an offer from Sheffield Hallam, apply online using this link. Courses starting in September 2017 by 31 May 2017 for September 2017

  •  Send your transcripts to by 31 May 2017 for September 2017

  • a panel will review the scholarship applications

  • you will be notified if you have been successful approximately one month after the deadline
