UK Master's Courses with Late Deadlines
There are generally two intakes for postgraduate applications to universities: September/October intake and January intake. If you're planning on starting your UK master's degree this year, but haven't submitted your applications yet and feel like you've missed the deadline, there is no need to fret. Some universities have yet to close their applications so we've compiled a quick list below of some courses and universities with late or rolling deadlines.
While there are no official closing dates for applications for the majority of master's courses, should there be a closing date for a particular master's course, it will be stated on the individual course pages. Other than courses under the School of Law and the Manchester Alliance Business School, all remaining courses are open on a first-come-first serve basis. It is advisable to apply as soon as possible, especially if the course is known to be popular.
The university encourages applications at least one month prior to entry. They do consider late applications if they have places available, but you would have to contact the relevant Admissions Office for advice first.
Courses by the School of Law, Business School are closed for admissions but all other schools' taught and research programmes are still open for admissions up to one month before programme start date.
Deadline for courses under Medical School: taught – 4 August 2017; research – rolling depending on intake.
Most courses at Northumbria University do not set an exact deadline for postgraduate applications but non-UK students are advised to submit applications by 31st July (September intake) or 1st December (January intake).
There is no official deadline for postgraduate applications (except for the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society's distance learning programmes); as they are accepted right up until the beginning of term (4th September 2017).
Most deadlines for international applicants have passed (30th June 2017) for the October 2017 intake, however application into Clinical Pharmacy Practice closes 14th July 2017.
Application deadlines are four and a half months before preferred programme start date as follows:
October 2017 intake = deadline of 15th May 2017.
January 2018 intake = deadline of 15th August 2017.
April 2018 intake = deadline of 15th November 2017.
Applications received outside of these deadlines will be considered for the following intake. Although you may have missed the deadline for the October 2017 intake, your application now could be considered for the January intake.
Each course in the Imperial College Business School has its own application deadlines. Most other postgraduate courses do not have a published formal closing date, but popular courses close as they become full. You are advised to submit your applications for any course of your interest by 30th July 2017 (non-UK applicants) for the September 2017 intake. Click here for more detailed information.
Examples of courses still available:
MSc Business Analytics, MSc Finance and Accounting, Full-Time MBA, MRes Nanomaterials, Process Automation, Instrumentation and Control.
All deadlines for the submission of the application are 12:00pm (midday) UK time on the date stated. Occasionally deadlines for some subjects will be extended so do check as you may still be able to apply even if an earlier deadline has passed.
Deadlines for courses still available (January 2018 intake):
MPhil in Biological Science (Genetics), MPhil in Earth Sciences – 3rd October 2017.
MPhil in Materials Science and Metallurgy, MPhil in Medical Science (Medicine) – 4th October 2017.
